Prayer Request for Jane Williams' Eyes

Acts 3:6. Peter said, "I don't have a nickel to my name, but what I do have, I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth", see.

Dear Church,

Jane Williams has served Columbia, Missouri since her college years in Mizzou.

Her contributions have included *inner city missions, *prayer walks with Pam Ingram (going house to house asking for prayer requests), *assisting and restoring abused women, *reaching out to the poor, *ministering the prophetic word to prisoners, *taking foster children into her home and loving them as her own, *co-ordinating the Katrina hurricane relief in the mid-Missouri area, *envisioning and then helping build Love Inc of Columbia, *playing a vital role in encouraging prisoner re-entry in our city, *being, on a daily basis, the supportive wife of her husband (Pastor Scott Williams), *being the loving mother to two kids that reflect their parents well (Aaron and Suzy Williams), *organizing benevolence direction at Columbia Christian Fellowship Church, *introducing my case and my innocence to countless people until someone listened and helped her get my freedom and name back, .......just to mention a few.

This Tuesday, Jane's going in to have surgery done on her eye. She'll be awake through the process and is nervous. I can imagine why. The prospects of being conscience while someone pokes around inside your eye has to be intimidating. At this point, she has to have this procedure done though. Earlier this year, she lost her sight in her good eye.

Both Jane and her twin sister (Judy) have had damaged eyes since they were small babies, due to complications in the hospital care post birth. Both sisters have extreme problems with both eyes. Both sisters have had multiple surgeries on both eyes, so both of them have really never had "good eyes" ever, but the one eye that Jane has relied upon for years is the one that has experienced complications and wherein the vision has gone.

So,... I'm asking you to pray for her. Pray for her peace. Pray for her doctors. Pray for the massive scarring she has on both eyes. Pray for the health of both eyes. Pray for healing. Pray for a miracle. And pray, preemptively, for her sister's eyes as well. She's hoped for healing for her entire life, at least all the years that she's known Jesus, but hasn't gotten it yet. She believes in miracles, but she's been so concentrated on being the hands and feet of Jesus and being the practical miracle for others that she needs us to intervene and intercede in prayer on her behalf for the miraculous.

The last half of November and the month of December is when our church exhorts each other to be a Community of Compassion and give to the indigent and hurting. Jane heads up this effort every year. This morning (11/28/2010), she will get up again and ask us to give. As always, she'll do her best to encourage us to be difference makers and impact players in the kingdom of God. I'm asking you to give to her, to impact her, to make a difference in her life. Give her your prayers. Lift her up in your praises to our Lord. In your worship of God's glory, in your hearts ~ pray for her.

Acts 3:6. Peter said, "I don't have a nickel to my name, but what I do have, I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth", see. No one's even asking you for your money this time around ~ just your prayers "in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth" for Jane's eyes.

Thank you, in Christ, Josh

  2. Thanks for the note; we will most definitely be praying for Jane. She is a dear sister in Christ and is so gifted and talented and as you said has a servant's heart. She and Scott are and have been a huge blessing to Christian Fellowship and to many people in so many ways. Though we now live in another city, they hold a special place in our heart because God powerfully used them to touch our lives in the early days of our walk with Christ. We totally believe in the healing power of God and we will be praying! Matthew and Margie Peek of Wichita, KS

  6. Trish and I will pray starting today for Jane and her eyes. Thanks very much for the heads-up, Josh. Your list of her work honors her and honors the Lord. She has a gift to be able to sacrifice herself for others so regularly. With her it is a lifestyle. Please convey our love to her.

  7. Matthew 11:28-30 says,"Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."

Fear, anxiety and unrest is a heavy yoke from the enemy. Jesus said, "My yoke is easy and My burden light". The good news is that He leads, guides and carries us through whatever we are experiencing. Hold fast to your confession of faith in Christ Jesus. He is faithful. He'll see you through. Lift your hands, through back your head and shout, Glory to God, thank You, Lord!
He's given you a song of deliverance.

  8. Dear Lord,

I thank You for Jane and the fact that You created her. You are incredible at getting glory out of situations that should be impossible to fix. God my prayer is that You would get glory of out this situation. Jane has been walking by faith more than she has been walking by sight, but in this instance my prayer is that she SEE the blessings You will bring to her life. Thank you for healing her eyes. I love you.

    In Jesus Name,

    Amen

  9. Update.

The surgery went well. The doctor doesn't know how long it will take for Jane's vision to come, or if it will, but the surgery went as well as it could and her retina is reattached.

One side note, perhaps the most important note. Leading up to the surgery, Jane had been praying for the Lord's presence through the surgery. Since Jane was going to be awake and conscience through the surgery, she asked the Lord to make His presence known to her.

    Isaiah 26:3

Well, prior to her entering the surgical room, while she was being prepared and while she was still praying, an assistant to the doctor that would be doing the procedure came into the room Jane was in and introduced himself.

"I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Dr. Lord." Literally! That happened!

The doctor's assistant's name was actually Dr. Lord! The Lord's assistant [the doctor's] assistant's name was Dr. Lord. Are you following?....LOL!!! Praise His name!!! The Lord was all over the place in Jane's surgery and made His presence known to her. He's awesome. "The Lord" Jesus is the Great Physician!

  10. Lord, you are the one who opened the eyes of the blind so we ask that you would restore Jane's vision quickly for your glory and her joy. Assure her that you are for her and assure her that she is in your hands.

  13. What an amazing gal. I just watched the documentary on the ID channel. I'm not much a believer in the man upstairs, but I AM A BELIEVER IN GOOD PEOPLE. My prayers will be sent for what they are worth for both of you. If anyone deserves good things, she certainly does. Wow....I'm saddened by hard times befalling such a good person. And for Josh, it was quite an inspiration to watch/hear your story. I wish you both the very best, and pray for you both. Matt D
