I logged onto Discovery Investigation's "On The Case w/Paula Zahn" website, clicked on the discussions page (which is nicely designed) and started a topical discussion titled after the name of a show scheduled to be aired in just over a week ....The Long Road Home. I've chosen to list the topical discussion starter on my blog in hopes of getting you to log on to the website yourself and participate in the discussion.

On the board, you'll see the topic The Long Road Home.
As I interpret this site, people can log on to view and reply to various topics and a count is kept of the views and replies for all to see. The most views I see listed on an individual topic is 1,082 and the most replies is 8. I'd like to surpass both marks by leaps and bounds.
Innocence men and women in prison is a very serious issue in our society. I'm asking you to help me with this because light needs to be shed on this issue fiercely and with many participating.
Imagine if we all worked together on this and were able to amass 20,000 views and 20,000 replies...or more....maybe 100,000 or a 1,000,000. That would get someone's attention. There are an estimated 100,000 innocent men and women in prison today in America. I'm asking you to help me help them.
When I participated in the making of this episode that will be airing May 16th, Sunday night at 10 eastern on Discovery Investigation's "On The Case w/Paula Zahn", my intentions were to communicate a forgiving heart and tell the story in plane language.
I'm not sure how the story will air. Maybe they'll play a gotcha game and edit something to make me look bad (always the risk when your dealing with the media) or maybe they'll tell it like it is. Either way, I would very much like for all of you to stay on point in regards to the story, justice, hope, forgiveness, the constitution,....
I would really appreciate your help in this regard.

May 16th, Sunday night, 10eastern/9central, On The Case is airing a story titled The Long Road Home. The story's about...me. I'm Josh Kezer. Like the rest of you, I'll be viewing the show for the first time when it airs.
This show's also about the Lawless family. This tragic story started the night Angela M. Lawless was murdered. It's about 'Sheriff' Rick Walter, 'Social-worker and Church-volunteer' Jane Williams, 'Attorneys' Charlie Weiss & Steve Snodgrass & Jim Wyrsch, 'Investigators' Brandon Caid and Jim Sullins, 'Judge' Richard Callahan and all the people that worked together to set me free and give me back my life. And it's absolutely about the faithfulness of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
I'm sure some of you will have some questions once you watch it. You may not. You may watch it and see all that you think you need to see. In that case, I'm sure you'll have an opinion. Whatever the case, I would appreciate the feedback. Issues like this deserve feedback.

I've been through a nightmare. I'm living the dream. I've been dealt a bitter hand. I've been given the opportunity to be a blessing and live out a purpose that's bigger than myself. It would honor me to share with you the blessing.
As soon as I saw what evidence they did NOT have, I knew Josh was completely innocent. How he even went to prision is beyond me. It sickens me to know, with all our resources today, that innocent people are still being convicted of crimes they did not commit. I'll stand with you Josh, because this has got to stop. I believe we can make a difference, even one voice can go along way (Jesus Christ) let alone many. I know this is a tough subject and some people think they might not want to get involved, but what if this happened to you or a loved one? what would you do then? You would fight for their innocence!! So why not fight for others? These horrific stories like Josh's have got to stop and together we can make a difference. My heart goes out to you Josh and I can only pray that more people will join in this fight for TRUE JUSTICE!!

I'm currently a student in law school and I have to say that it's stories like yours that make me rethink going into law. It's disgusting how the legal system is so apathetic that they'll just let an innocent life be lost when even the smallest amount of effort would have easily exonerated you.
ReplyDeleteOne thing we just learned in my Civil Procedure class was that, in general, if cases get too messy then courts favor simply closing it rather than dealing with it and sorting through the issues to make sure that the right person receives justice.
It's extremely disturbing how scary our legal system is once you truly start to understand it. Clearly, people are sent to prison who are guilty until proven innocent rather than innocent until proven guilty. I think that you're case, unfortunately, is a perfect example of this and I think it's amazing that you've managed to live through it and prosper.
I admire your strength and wisdom a long with your faith in God. I wish you the very best in life!
